This is one of many paintings on the walls of the dining room.

One of the prisoners had great artistic talent and spent his days painting the walls of the prison.

This particular painting was a message to his fellow prisoners to ‘stay on the right side of the tracks’.

No matter where you move in the room, you are always on the right side of the tracks.

Visitors may browse through history in the prison museum where historical information sits side by side with confiscated inmate-made weapons and an exhibit of the movie “Prison” filmed on location at the Old Pen.

A walking trail takes visitors to the prison cemetery and to the top of the bluffs overlooking the city of Rawlins, Wyoming.  The Wyoming Peace Officers Museum is also on the site.
