The purpose of this multifaceted work is to highlight historical anecdotes from the old Wyoming State Penitentiary, while simultaneously offering a practical guide to cooking.
The popularity of cookbooks has made them one of the most successful fund raising endeavors for non-profit organizations such as the Friends of the Old Pen Inc. I have sought to use the many historical references to food, food production, and cooking as the cues for which recipes to select. In order to genuinely serve the reader I have endeavored to include recipes worthy of their consideration while informing them in an entertaining manner with historical vignettes as seen through a culinary perspective.
